Next Generation are currently recruiting for a Machine Shop Manager to work with a well-established engineering company based near Halesowen. As the Machine Shop Manager you will be responsible for managing machine shop personnel whilst driving continuous improvement. Working hours for the Machine Shop Manager: Monday Friday (Days) There may be some flexibility with the working hours for the successful candidate What s on offer for the Machine Shop Manager: Competitive salary to be disclosed during initial conversation Duties of the Machine Shop Manager: Co-ordinate and control the daily operation of machine shop personnel so as to provide a safe, secure and efficient working environment. Control, direct and monitor, machine shop resources, operations and facilities in order to adhere to project/programme schedules. Manage and direct a team of skilled and technically based individuals, through sound personnel practices. Identification of training needs and coaching alongside departmental succession planning. Continuously review machining procedures and capability in order to sustain the most cost effective and efficient methods and make recommendations for improvement as appropriate. Review tooling use and suppliers in order to sustain the most cost effective and efficient methods. Ability to accurately estimate manufacturing lead times for various components over all machining disciplines. Monitor and report progress through daily & weekly production meetings and notify any predicted shortfall or discrepancies against programme and budget. Control and monitor operator daily bookings. Train, plan and sustain machine shop 5S activities. Plan and implement CI projects. Create visual machine shop metrics. Attend and present monthly data in KPI meeting. The successful candidate for the Machine Shop Managers position will have the following experience: 3 5 year s experience as a Machine Shop Manager (Essential) Experience implementing CI Initiatives (Essential) Man management experience (Essential) Previous experience of working on both CNC and manual Turning and Milling machines along with management or supervisory experience of these skilled engineers (Essential) Proven experience in a machine shop environment producing precision components (Essential) Due to the high number of applications we receive, we are sometimes not able to respond directly to each candidate.
