Red Snapper Recruitment are currently looking for for retired/former Police Officers to work as a PIP2 Surveillance and Exhibits Officer on a long-term, full-time contract working with a local police force in Preston, Lancashire. Job Purpose: Act as Enquiry Officer within a serious organised crime investigation, investigating allocated actions as required and gathering evidence to the required standard in support of prosecution cases. To conduct serious and complex investigations, plan and manage own workload, and retain OIC responsibility where necessary. To secure, preserve and gather evidence within investigations in order to prove or disprove information and establish facts. To plan, prepare and be involved in the execution of operations. To work in partnership with other departments and agencies to safeguard and protect those at risk of harm. Interview witnesses and suspects within PIP2 standards and gather all required evidence and information within the criminal law and legal framework to bring offenders to justice. To interview witnesses and take statements as part of investigations in line with Achieving Best Evidence Guidelines. To provide support to victims and witnesses and assess their need for further support throughout the criminal justice process. Ensure contact with witnesses and where required transported to Court. To support the process regarding seized material and exhibits, including where necessary managing or assisting in the recording and inputting of exhibits into the appropriate ICT system, examination of seized articles. To attend Crown Court trials and Magistrates Court, giving evidence as required and providing support to the prosecution team. To use internal IT systems to research and maintain records regarding individuals and investigations. To complete comprehensive investigation reports and case files as necessary for CPS. Research agencies / information, analyse intelligence and crime patterns to identify offenders, thus enabling the preparation of target profiles. Plan and prepare operational orders to ensure efficient operations, taking cognisance of all risks and Health & Safety legislation Operate technical equipment used on covert operations skillfully to avoid compromising such an operation. Participate in surveillance operations to obtain intelligence / evidence. Maintain surveillance accreditation in relation to foot, mobile and motorcycle in accordance with College of Policing guidelines. To research local, national issues in relation to police surveillance tactics. Perform Disclosure duties, dealing with large volumes of material much of which will be of a sensitive nature. Undertake all responsibilities relating to information management, data quality, and information sharing, intelligence and information security in accordance with the guidance on the Management of Police Information in order to achieve compliance with the statutory code of practice. To self - develop through PDR and encourage self-development and learning in line with the National Competency Framework. Undertake function of Exhibits Officer to secure preserve and examine Potential exhibits whilst applying forensic strategy Knowledge/Experience: It is essential to have previously completed I.C.I.D.P, or an equivalent CID training program in order to be effective in the role or have current and significant professional experience within this type of role. PIP level 2 trained and accredited or willing to complete the PIP2 programme within 12 months of attending the course or equivalent demonstrable experience Mobile Surveillance Course Q1/Q100 Must have completed a recognised investigative interviewing Course Be accredited to National level 1 surveillance qualification and continue to develop skills, enabling competent use of technical equipment and avoiding compromise of operations Accredited Exhibits Officer If you have any questions, or if you wish to apply, please email
