Policy Development and Engagement Advisor Nayr Recruitment are currently looking for a Policy Development and Engagement Advisor based remote / closest DEFRA hub for a 4 months contract within the public sector. 1 Vacancy Digital/Non-Digital: Non digital Contracting Authority: DEFRA Duration: 4 months Location: 2/3 days per week required in the office (any DEFRA hub local to the candidate), the rest working remotely IR35: In scope Pay Rate: up to £250 (Umbrella) / £183.31 (PAYE) per day Hub locations: Birmingham, Bristol, London, Newcastle, Reading and York Requirements: Experience in policy support (ideally around policy development) Excellent stakeholder management skills Security Clearance: CTC (required prior to starting) Location: This role can be based at any Defra office See guidance above on locations. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, all staff are currently required to work from home. About The Candidate (specialist ...:As a Higher Executive Officer Policy / Engagement Advisor, you will contribute towards the development & delivery of policies and strategies that drive Defra s work. You will be part of a team of experts that is delivering on Defra s priorities. You will also build relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Internally, these could include Directors and Ministers, as well as your counterparts in other teams, whereas externally, this could include devolved administrations, businesses and industry bodies, non-governmental organisations and UK citizens. Your role will be to ensure their interests are taken into account as appropriate. No two posts are the same but in broad terms your work will include: Delivering expertise in a specific area of policy or business sector. Alternatively, you may be asked to support across several different, but linked, areas. Building relationships with stakeholders within and outside Government, to help ensure that you can deliver the best results. Being organised so that you plan and prioritise to deliver effective results. Using evidence to help guide decisions that develop and deliver strategic policy. Supporting the team to provide effective and timely briefings to Ministers and senior officials. This list isn t exhaustive but provides an overview of the activities the role will carry out. The post holder would take up responsibility for developing policy for agri-food areas of Dual Regulation and support the co-design process with industry which is needed to happen at pace over the coming months, before supporting drafting of secondary legislation as appropriate. Delivering high quality outputs to very tight timescales Developing and maintaining key products to aid and ensure a consistent understanding of policy as it develops (e.g., trader journeys, process overviews, explanatory slide decks) Working with delivery colleagues and stakeholders to consider the practical feasibility of policy proposals Planning, monitoring and reporting on projects related to GB-NI agri-food movement, including identifying issues and risks Delivering effective and timely briefings to Ministers and senior officials Agri-food areas include: Live animals Meat Poultry Plants and plant products Dairy Organics If you have the skills and experience for the role please apply with your CV
