As a Research Associate working on the Medicinal Chemistry team, you will be empowered to apply innovative synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry principles and techniques toward the discovery of medicines for oncology, neuroscience, GI diseases, and rare diseases.

OBJECTIVES:

  • We are seeking a creative and highly motivated scientist to enhance our ability to apply innovative synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry principles and techniques toward the discovery of medicines for oncology, neuroscience, GI diseases, and rare diseases.
  • The successful applicant will perform well-established laboratory-based synthesis, purification, and characterization activities for bioactive small molecules
  • Strong laboratory-based focus, experimental excellence and well developed communication and collaboration skills are required for this position.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Synthesize, purify, and characterize biologically active molecules with suitable drug-like properties with efficiency, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Keep a well-organized Electronic Lab Notebook
  • Understand, analyze and interpret structure-activity relationships based on in vitro biological data, and clearly communicate SAR to chemistry team members.
  • Act as key member of a multidisciplinary drug discovery project team, assisting with synthesis and scale-up activities for high priority lead compounds.
  • Independently identify synthetic or purification issues and recommend solutions

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor s degree in a scientific discipline with 2+ years of experience, or Master's degree in a scientific discipline, or equivalent
  • Basic wet lab skills and experience, including synthetic chemistry reaction set-up
  • Experience with analytical and purification methods such as NMR, LCMS, HPLC, and silica gel chromatography
  • Prior work experience in either academic or industrial setting is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision in a collaborative environment

  • None required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Manual dexterity required to operate office and lab equipment
  • Carrying, handling and reaching for objects up to 25 lbs
  • Prolonged standing and/or sitting
  • Exposure to hazardous/toxic/dangerous chemicals

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • None required
